Tabor trailed just 39-26 after the first half, but the Builders’ tandem of Melissa Burdett and Niki Nicholas proved to be too much for the Bluejays. Burdett scored 25 and Nicholas 20. Burdette came off the bench to nail seven 3-pointers for Southwestern. Tabor was led by Katherine Klepper, who turned in a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, seven off the offensive glass. Jenae Rademacher scored 10 points and hit two 3-pointers for the Bluejays. She also had three blocked shots. Tamie Jons and Holly Ross added nine points each. Tabor was significantly outscored from beyond the 3-point arc. Southwestern hit 11 threes while Tabor could manage just three. Burdett seven 3-pointers out of 11 attempts in just 21 minutes of playing time. The loss dropped Tabor to 1-18 on the season, and 0-7 in KCAC play. Bethel—Tabor women dropped another conference game last week, losing at home to Bethel, 63-50, on Thursday night. Tabor came out of the gates slowly, as Bethel opened up a 14-4 lead in the early part of the game. The Bluejays were able to settle down the rest of the first half and keep the game within 11 at the half. Bethel was again able to control the game early in the second half by going on a 17-5 run to take a 21-point lead. “If you take away the two runs to begin each half, we played with them the whole way,” said coach Matt Krebs. Tabor could only manage 30 percent shooting from the field and 60 percent from the free-throw line. “We missed far to many easy shots and free-throws tonight,” he said. Jenae Rademacher led Tabor with 10 points. Katherine Klepper and Susan Carter had 11 and 10 rebounds, respectively. Hillsboro native Ruth Harder led Bethel with 15 points and seven assists. The Bluejays travel to McPherson College tomorrow and will host Friends University on Saturday.
