We won’t belabor the point that so many others have made, but the recent death of Kansas City Chiefs We won’t belabor the point that so many others have made, but the recent death of Kansas City Chiefs star Derrick Thomas was doubly tragic for the simple reason that it could have been so easily prevented. The facts are agonizing clear. The two passengers in Thomas’s vehicle who weren’t wearing seatbelts were thrown to their deaths when that fateful traffic accident occurred in late January. The one passenger who wore his belt escaped with minor injuries. Do the math. Make the connection. Wearing seatbelts may not be the “coolest” thing to do. But it beats a premature death by an eternity. Buckle up.
