LETTERS: County residents want a hospital, but will they support tax hike to support it?

I was glad to see that nearly all who have responded to your question of the week agree that Marion I was glad to see that nearly all who have responded to your question of the week agree that Marion County needs a hospital. The bigger question is whether those same people would be willing to endure very significant tax increases to support building a new facility. The preliminary studies indicate our county will not support such an institution without a large amount of donated funds and tax increases that would make many change their mind on the issue. I wish I could quote a necessary mil levy to you, but I don’t have that information. Health care in Marion County five years from now is going to look much different. I just hope we can maintain quality care with or without hospitals.
